The game’s producer Naoki Yoshida said that ‘Final Fantasy 16 will showcase the power of the PlayStation 5‘. While it is true that there were many games released earlier this year that were absolutely phenomenal when it came to the graphics, no game has even come close to matching, or fully utilizing the potential that these next-gen consoles have.

Furthermore, Yoshida disclosed that the company is in regular contact with Sony regarding PS5 supply, and that the manufacturers have assured them the situation will begin to improve in 2023, just in time for the release of Final Fantasy 16 on June 22, 2023.  The development team needs this information in order to feel confident releasing the game, knowing that with such a large fanbase, anyone interested in playing the game, already has a PlayStation 5, especially when Final Fantasy won the award for the Best Ongoing Game at TGA recently. Ahead of its release, it was announced that Final Fantasy XVI would be one of the most brutal entries in the franchise, receiving a 17+ rating. Final Fantasy XVI’s rating was released by the ESRB, revealing the game’s mature theme and some of the game’s other content. The main reasons for this rating were listed as Blood and Gore, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Violence. The fact that this has never happened before in a mainline Final Fantasy game is further evidence that it is the most dramatic entry in the series’ history.
